Tankwa

Tankwa

Bleached by sun and stripped of excess, Tankwa is a visual meditation on silence, space, and the elemental character of the Karoo. Captured within the stark expanse of South Africa’s Tankwa Karoo National Park, these images explore a landscape where time slows, detail sharpens, and the horizon feels impossibly wide.

This is a place of hard lines and soft decay—where rusting remnants, scorched soil, and skeletal flora speak in the language of endurance. Each photograph is a quiet encounter with the tension between isolation and presence, shaped by long light and deep shadow.

In Tankwa, absence becomes subject. The series invites viewers to pause, breathe, and witness a landscape that resists definition yet hums with quiet resilience.
