Semiotics

In this seemingly eclectic assembly of images, I pay homage to the work of Ferdinand de Saussure, who first explored how we use symbols to construct and communicate complex ideas through deceptively simple means.

In today’s chaotic visual culture, we’re bombarded daily by thousands of these symbols. For this series, I’ve chosen to isolate a small fraction—specifically, circular forms—encountered during my regular walk to the studio.

By removing these signs from their original context and placing them alongside one another, the illusion of fixed meaning begins to unravel. A single signifier no longer corresponds to a single signified. Instead, each image opens up multiple layers of potential interpretation, revealing the nuanced and often ambiguous nature of visual communication.
